KORPUS

Instrumentation: Flutes, Bass Clarinet, Percussion, Piano, Violin, Violoncello and Live Electronics

Dedication: to immortalise a moment that is better forgotten...

Duration: 7 min. ca.

Notes: KORPUS is what I had been long avoiding to write. It is violent with beauty resolving into repulsion and order resolving into chaos. It is a catharsis, a betrayal and a necessity.

High, struck chords insistently penetrate long, resonant harmonies and melodies and with every reiteration agitates the music more. The screams projected from the speakers are reminiscent of a deep pain, perhaps so present that it is de-personalized, removed from the ensemble. Or rather the ensemble as one large instrument is reminiscent of a person; and through the speakers and through the movement of its internal organs, we hear a glimpse of its dark inner thoughts, feelings that have nowhere to escape. Under the weight, the ensemble collapses into a long static nothingness, removed from the self, removed from thinking and feeling.
